Analysis of Drinking Water

Mandatory Testing in Accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance

Since 2011, the German Drinking Water Ordinance legally requires all public and commercial operators of large-scale systems for heating drinking water to perform regular testing. The GBA Group helps you fulfill your obligations to the legal authorities simply and easily. Five Steps to Legal Certainty

The GBA Group has divided the process into 5 simple steps, only the first of which directly affects you. We perform all of the further steps for you on your behalf and you receive your results from us at the legally required intervals.

Step 1: Registering Your Properties

In order for us to know where we should take samples and from whom, we need data from you regarding your real estate properties. If you do not have this data, or if you are not sure if the data is correct, then we will make an appointment for an on-site inspection with you so that we can record all the relevant points and potentially even provide you with some initial feedback regarding your drinking water installation.

Step 2: Planning the Sampling

We plan the sampling, inform you as well as any potential tenants or property managers, and we carry out the sampling in accordance with the requirements of the German Drinking Water Ordinance. We try our best to carry out the sampling in a manner that does not bother your guests, residents, customers, or anyone else at the property. We bring the samples to one of our laboratories, where they are ready for analysis.

Step 3: Analysis

We analyze the drinking water samples for the required parameters using the valid standards in our drinking water laboratories, which are authorized in accordance with §15 paragraph 4.

Step 4: Reporting

You receive a test report (as a PDF, but we can gladly also transmit the results to you using a digital interface so that you can further process the data). If the technical intervention value is exceeded, we also report the results to the responsible health authorities in accordance with the Drinking Water Ordinance and in the required format.

Step 5: Follow-up Service

After receiving the test report, our work goes on. If the results are within all normal limits, we plan the next round of testing for you at your request. If there are any abnormalities, we use our long-term experience to help you communicate with the authorities and plan further steps together.

Hazard Analysis and Further Measures

The GBA Group produces a hazard analysis in based on the recommendations of the German Environmental Protection Agency (UBA). For this purpose, you receive a short questionnaire with questions concerning the relevant data, such as the year of construction, maintenance, and any known retrofitting measures. Our experts produce a hazard analysis containing a clearly understandable explanation of the causes as well as the measures to be taken for this specific case.

Based on the hazard analysis, the discussions with the responsible health authorities, and the DVGW worksheets (German Association for Gas and Water), sampling points for the necessary further testing are determined.
