A wide range of byproducts arise from synthesis reactions

During the production of active substances as well as finished products in pharmaceutical biotechnology, a wide range of byproducts arise from synthesis reactions. Trace elements, such as detergents or genotoxic compounds are also present in biotechnological fermentation solutions. 

In the context of a down-stream process, these byproducts must be depleted in a multi-step process.
